Mermaid

I had never hooked a mermaid before..but then I remembered...."Ok, Laura..you have hooked fish and women..stick them together girl"! I don't do commissions much but an artist friend wanted a mermaid..we did a little trade..I got a yummy horse painting and she got a ..mermaid.

Last Monday I dropped my son off at school and then I noticed this poor Mom. She was pushing a stroller and had two little ones in tow..she looked beat. I started to think..no wonder Moms stay at home..so hard to get everyone dressed and out the door...and then this image popped in my head.

A writer living in BC received a rug she had purchased plus another rug her husband wanted to surprise her with. She had this to say, "SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!"
...plus some other very kind words, but that.. right there... was my favourite.

The Copper Fox Gallery

Just hooked this little guy, 5x7" for a show at Copper Fox Gallery in Hall's Harbour. Not much space to create with but that was a big as you could go for the show...always good to have a challenge.

Just finished hooking this lady...and she'll be heading to the NS Folk Art Festival in Lunenburg in August.

The show "Dirty Girl and the Hooker, Expressions in Clay and Wool" made the local paper. A writer friend of mine noticed the paper referred to the show by it's less racy sub-title "Expressions in Clay and Wool" for the title of the article....HA! this makes me laugh.

 So the show is all set up, the official opening is Feb20th 6:30-9pm.. so go to take a peek!
