Rugs For Sugar Moon Farm

I met Quita, the owner of Sugar Moon farm, last year in a music class our kids were taking. She had asked if I would like to have some of my rugs for sale at Sugar Moon. Of course! I replied.

Sugar Moon Farm is a working sugar maple farm and woodlot and has a wonderful pancake house. It is about a 25 minute drive outside of  Truro towards Earltown. We go there every year for a hike and some pancakes and it really is a special place...a good home for my rugs.

Little Tree

Just finished this little tree..trees on my mind. Took the kids to see the "Lorax" a couple of weeks ago and just received  the Truro Tree Committee pamphlet regarding the Urban Tree Planting Program. The leaves won't be out till May and there is 10 cm of snow in the forecast for tomorrow..but spring is coming..it has to .

Fish on Chair

This is "Fish on Chair" on the wall, just to show you what it would like look on the wall..in the dining room..perhaps. We have it in the piano room..which is actually the living room but it is such a small room that the piano takes up most of it..so we call it the piano room. ..too much irrelevant information...oops.

Little Red Kitty - SOLD

When I go to the Louis, Frenchies..the local second-hand clothing stores to look for wool, I can always find red wool blazers. I now have two large baskets of red wool..but I keep buying the red blazers even though I hear a voice "Pretty sure you have enough red Laura"..I still buy more and more red. I think a big red rug is going to happen sometime in the future..but for today, I hooked a little red kitty.

Girl in Chaos

This is another "old" rug we picked up from Harvest Gallery. With her hands on her hips, she is wondering how she is going to tackle the mess.

A very nice "fan" of mine once suggested I take shots of my rugs in their natural habitat....on the wall. ..and so I did. Here she is ..Girl in Chaos.

Ballerina

Just finished this lovely lady, this very fine spring morning in Truro. It has been awhile since I have thought of hooking a ballerina..I guess I have been a little obsessed with fish lately...so it was fun to return to the ballerina.

Spotted Cow

The kids and I stopped by Harvest Gallery to exchange some rugs and the Spotted Cow was one of the rugs that is back home. I made this in 2008 and an image of this cow is on my business card as I am quite fond of him and..well, I have to admit.. I am glad to have him home.

Nice day to take your fish for a walk. SOLD

The sky is a bit different for me...but I was trying to be brave and I am happy with how it turned out. I would ordinarily do circles for a sky but I wanted it to look a tad stormy, so made it more swirly.

What is next?

May start work on a Titanic rug for an upcoming show...or might sit on the couch and contemplate the meaning of life.

The snow has melted...

Nice to see the grass again.

While many are heading south for March Break, we usually stay here in Truro for the break..kids not happy about it but they will forgive us. The one year we did go down south, we took the kids to Cuba for the week..and it was fun. The best part was stepping off the plane and realizing you didn't have to tense yourself to endure the cold.

But it almost seems like cheating to me..to escape the winter. Be a good Canadian, be patient.. .spring is coming.

Sooooooo, pregnant

This is a rug I completed a couple of years ago.

This Mom-to-be is very excited...and yet you can tell by the slope of her back, she is pooped.

I think that pretty much sums up Motherhood, exciting yet, tiring.

Mannequin meets Rug and Others Off to Harvest Gallery

This rug and 5 others are off to the Harvest Gallery in lovely Wolfville next week. "Mannequin meets Rug" is called "Mannequin Meets Rug", as the this rug was originally draped around a mannequin like a dress..but later thought it looked better as a wallhanging.

It is the second largest rug I have ever made at 37"x46" and is priced at 2100$.

Overflowing Basket of Scrap Cut Wool

Whenever I cut wool for a rug, I usually end up with leftovers and so into the basket they go. Every now and then I think, "Gee, I should go through that basket and colour sort" ..but hasn't happened yet. So it is either time for another basket or organize..leaning towards another basket.
