On the Line

It always makes me happy to see the freshly dyed wool drying on the line..not sure why, it just does.

Trees

trees..the way I want them to look
Every year at this time, I start wanting the leaves to come back on the trees. I have imagined myself cutting out paper leaves and going around from tree to tree with tape in hand...but then  the tape wouldn't hold when it rained, the paper leaves would fall to the ground and then I would have to start all over again. So, instead I have hooked some trees..trees with life...a much more productive endeavor.

The Process

1. Draw fish on burlap
2. Pick the colours.
3. Hook, hook and hook some more and voila, a fish

Do you have a Studio?

My first year at the Nova Scotia Folk Art Festival, a woman asked me, "Do you have a studio? My "studio" is the third bedroom/ex-toyroom and I didn't quite know how to answer her question. When I think studio, I think big space, exposed brick, high ceilings and a comfy couch with a funky throw. But according to Wikipedia, a studio is an artist's workplace.....so I do have a studio...and  this is what it looks like...on a tidy day.
