Judy is a fictional character, invented by Laura Kenney. She is representative of everyone who has ever harboured desires to break the prescribed roles and social codes of behaviour that confine us all. Anyone who has ever wished to say, “to hell with cooking dinner, going to work, putting on that suit, or doing that laundry!”: anyone who has ever wanted to change the problematic order of things and fix the troubles of this world… will find an ally in Judy!

When I made this in 2017, I was thinking about Truth and Reconciliation...."Canada, take a good look at yourself".

 

Now when I look at this rug..all I can think of is the "Freedom" Convoy people..horns a honking, flag draped around their bodies.."Convoyers, take a good look at yourselves"

 As part of the "Judy" show at the CBU Art Gallery we are going to be having a HOOK IN! 

 WHERE: Cape Breton University Art Gallery

 WHEN: Sat. July 23, 10 am -12pm

Looking for Judys

 I am hoping to find 10 volunteers to be Judy mannequins for the opening of "Judy" at CBU Art Gallery in lovely Sydney NS on July 22, 6:30 -8:30 pm.
If you choose the mission..what is involved?
1) Wear black..a dress would be great but whatever black clothing is good.
2) Hair in high bun if you have long hair.
3) Red boots are great..but red socks or shoes work fine.
4) Stand and mimic a pose in a rug.
And sorry..it is a volunteer gig..so no mola for your time...if I had the mola I would totally pay.
