Rooster Update

I was having a bit of a hard time deciding on the background for the rooster. You see, I did a really cool rooster..if I do say so myself, a few years ago...and well, I thought I didn't want to make it too similar. But, green really looks super with red, so I went with the green colours..if it works, stick with it....my wisdom for the day.

"Two Birds in a Tree" SOLD

I didn't know about this story before I made this rug, but I think it fits well with the rug.

The Story of Vedanta: There is a story in Mundaka Upanishad that runs like this: Once in a tree there were two birds, one at the upper branch, serene, majestic and divine, and the other at a lower branch, restlessly pecking fruits, sometimes sweet sometimes bitter. Every time, when the restless bird ate a bitter fruit, it looked at the upper bird and climbed a branch up. This occurred a number of times and eventually the bird reached the topmost branch. There it was not able to differentiate itself from the divine bird, and then it learned that there was only one bird in the tree, the upper bird, which is described as divine, the real form of the other restless bird. This is the thought of Vedanta. The fruits in the story are Karma, the restless bird denotes a human soul, and the majestic bird denotes the Absolute.

Rugs...on the floor.

My big push now is to get as many rugs as I can for NS Folk Art Festival. I have this crazy goal of having as many as I did last year, even though I had more shows in the winter and sales have been great....so 2.5 months to go before the festival..and 20 more rugs to make..and I have an urge to hook a 6 ft rooster..this could be interesting.

Aging Ballerina SOLD

I have been a little sick lately, but on the mend now and was able to finish this little lady today.

A dancer, more than any other human being, dies two deaths: the first, the physical when the powerfully trained body will no longer respond as you would wish........
