I just recieved an email from the gallery Swoon, and my piece, "Fifty Shades of Grey..the Rug" is in the show! Very happy!!! I hadn't heard anything so I assumed it wasn't in BUT.. it is! Opening is Feb.9th 2-5pm. Please come!

Can't go Back

This started off as just a dress. I use to hook dresses when I first started hooking and I thought it would be fun to do one today. But as I hooked, I was like "This dress needs a person in it". Ha! So, I guess it is true, you can't go back.

"On the Cross"

The imagination is a weird and wonderful thing. I have had this image in my head for about a week and I had to see how it would "come out"..and here it is and I really have no idea what it means.

Little Black Bird

I hooked this wee bird on Saturday...I challenged myself to do it as quickly as I could...and it took about 2 hours and it is about 6x9". It was a neat exercise as you don't have time to second guess ...you just go for it!

Just completed! I was having a wee bit of trouble hooking the wine bottle,,BUT got it..on the third try.

Rugs to be Photographed

I am going to be having a collection of rugs photographed tomorrow by photographer Jody O'Brien. I was able to borrow some rugs from the buyer's collections for this..so grateful! These rugs may appear in  Rug Hooking Magazine or another project I am working on..which is at a very early stage..so will share more later...don't want to jinx it.

 I sketched some drawings last night..excited to get them on the burlap..so glad the ideas keep coming..whew.

Friends

Just completed this..it was a real pleasure to hook. I usually get a little tense when hooking commissioned pieces as I worry and think "Is this what the buyer wants..will they like it??etc etc. But not with this one.

"Hanging the Cats out to Dry"

Ha! Just finished this one..and it was giving me some grief...hmmm, even as I look at it know I am not sure about the cat hanging on the line. The cat was originally back but then I made the sky darker than I had planned and the cat got lost so hooked it in a lighter colour. Another possible title is "Kitty on the Clothesline" or "Saved from a Watery Grave".

Taking a peak at the Past

I spent some time yesterday gathering up my journal/sketch books. I am going to take a peak at them for a project..this might be hard but I gotta be brave.

Burlap

I have a whole bunch of burlap staring back at me...which can be a little intimidating, but I just have to grab the Sharpie and do it! Be brave Laura, be brave.

First Rug of 2013 SOLD

Just completed! I can't think of a title for this one so I may just call it "2013"...or "Lady with a Bun"..or "Lady in Grey"...hmmm, gotta think a bit more on this.
